Chrysokokkes, George

Chrysokokkes, George
Fourteenth-century compiler of astronomical tables who studied in Trebizond (q.v.), where he had access to the works of Trebizond astronomer Gregory Chioniades (q.v.). He was of the generation before the most famous Palaiologan astronomers, among whom was John Abramios (q.v.). He should not be confused with the 15th-century humanist George Chrysokokkes, who taught Bessarion (q.v.).
